Training and support

Training and support

Macquarie University provides training and support in the form of comprehensive workshops and online resources. These are available to Macquarie University researchers and external applicants who intend to apply for research funding through Macquarie University. Macquarie has also established the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Network which aims to develop the career opportunities and open pathways for achieving world-leading research for our most promising ECRs.

Upcoming Workshops

NHMRC Project Grant Rejoinder Workshop

About: Applicants for the 2018 NHMRC Project Grant round will receive assessor comments/questions from their Primary Spokesperson, Secondary Spokesperson and External Assessors in the form of an Assessor Report. Applicants will have up to 10 days, inclusive of weekends and public holidays, in which to submit their two page applicant response. This workshop will provide advice and assistance on writing your applicant response.

The approximate dates for the release of the assessor reports and submission of the applicant response are below. The provision of the Assessors Report to applicants is dependent upon the timely provision and availability of reports from the Spokespersons and External Assessors and therefore may occur outside of the indicative time periods. Where significant delays occur, applicants will be notified by the NHMRC.

Developing Partnerships as a Part of Your Long-Term Research Plan

About: This session aims to introduce researchers to working with external organisations (eg: industry, government and not-for-profit partners) on research projects. The Research Partnerships Managers will facilitate a session to frame how engagement with external partners can be developed, and specific tools to help researchers strategise their own potential partner links as a part of their long-term research plan.

There will also be the opportunity for engaged discussion with researchers who have established partnerships, who will outline their own experience of partnered research, and what can be gained from this activity.

The session will cover:

  • Engaged research - understanding the impact and engagement agenda at Macquarie University and nationally
  • Benefits of working with external organisations - input, feedback and stimulus from external partners in conceiving your research projects
  • Diversifying your funding streams - what does this look like for your 5 year research plan?
  • Training and development - understand what your training and development profile might be for partnered research, and the tools and resources available to you
  • Potential partners & what to do - help to identify who you might want to engage with, and initial steps on how to begin

Date: Wednesday 21 June 2017

Time: 12:00-13:00

Location: Senate Room (C8A, 16 Wally’s Walk, room 310)

Speakers: Mark Berlage, Lisa Elliott, Carly Evans (Research Office)
