MQ Strategic Infrastructure Scheme
MQSIS Research Infrastructure Fund provides more general research infrastructure support to Faculties. A supplementary aim of the Research Infrastructure Fund is to provide infrastructure resources which will assist in making external research funding applications from the Faculty more competitive. The MQSIS funds will be allocated competitively and it is possible that a Faculty might not receive allocations for all (or any) of its applications in a particular year.
Funding requests shall normally be for between $25,000 and $150,000. Applications for sums in excess of $150,000 will not be considered unless a very convincing case can be put to the Selection Panel, Chaired by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research). For any items costing more than $150,000, normally it would be expected that the Faculty would make a significant cash contribution; such a proposal should also include justification why external support (e.g. LIEF) for major infrastructure has not been sought.
The Faculties have their own approval and review processes for grants under this scheme. They may also have deadlines for submission of draft applications that are earlier than the Research Office deadlines. Please ensure that you contact your Faculty, as early as possible, for information on process and deadlines. Faculty contacts:
Faculty of Arts
Faculty of Business and Economics
Faculty of Human Sciences

Information, including the application form and funding rules will be emailed to the Faculties (through the Executive Dean, Associate Dean Research and Faculty Research Manager).
Applications are submitted from the Faculties, not from independent researchers.
