MQ Safety Net Scheme

MQ Safety Net Scheme

Status Closed
Aim

Macquarie University Safety Net Grants are available to:

  • top 10% of unsuccessful ARC Discovery Project and Linkage Project applications; and
  • Category 6 (and if numbers allow, Category 5) unsuccessful NHMRC Project Grant, Development Grant and Partnership Project applications

The funding enables the investigators to conduct a smaller scale one-year project to increase the competitiveness of their next application to the appropriate ARC or NHMRC scheme. The next application is expected to be submitted within two years of the original application.

Funding

The funding awarded each round will depend on numbers of highly ranked unsuccessful applications. In the last round, standard grants of $20,000 were awarded. Grants are of one-year duration only.

Key Dates A one page proposal that sets out how the requested funds will be spent and how this will improve the chance of the application being successful in the future must be submitted to the Faculty Research Office within two weeks of notification of eligibility.

Faculty recommendations for funding will be considered by the DVC(R) who will ultimately make the final funding decisions.

Outcomes for Safety Net Grants can be expected in November or December.
