MQ Fellowship for Indigenous Researchers Scheme
The purpose of the Macquarie University Fellowship for Indigenous Researchers (MUFIR) Scheme is fourfold:
1. To provide support to an Australian Indigenous Researcher at the beginning of his/her research career, or who is seeking to re-establish his/her research career following a career interruption.
2. To provide support to Australian Indigenous Researchers within three years of the award of their PhD who have an outstanding track record (relative to opportunity) or who show evidence of excellent research potential.
3. To enhance the research capabilities of existing and emerging areas of research strength at Macquarie University.
4. To provide an incubation research period for early career Australian Indigenous Researchers allowing them to increase their competitive edge in securing research funding from non-University sources.
Macquarie University will offer one full-time MUFIR position commencing in 2017, awarded on a competitive basis, and tenurable for three years. Fellows will be appointed at step 6, 7 or 8 of Level A of the Academic Salary Scale, plus annual leave loading and 17% employer superannuation. Applicants may apply for up to $50,000 over three years for research costs associated with the proposed project.
The Faculties have their own approval and review processes for grants under this scheme. They may also have deadlines for submission of draft applications that are earlier than the Research Office deadlines.
