ARC Linkage Projects

ARC Linkage Projects

Status Open (Continuous)
(Please note that the ARC Linkage Projects scheme has moved to a continuous round from 1 July 2016. Further details are available from the National Innovation & Science Agenda)
Aim

The ARC Linkage Projects scheme provides funding to Eligible Organisations to support research and development (R&D) projects which:

  • are collaborative between higher education researchers and other parts of the national innovation system
  • are undertaken to acquire new knowledge, and
  • involve risk or innovation.

The objectives of the scheme are to:

  • support the initiation and/or development of long-term strategic research alliances between higher education organisations and other organisations, including industry and other research end-users, in order to apply advanced knowledge to problems and/or to provide opportunities to obtain national economic, commercial, social or cultural benefits
  • provide opportunities for internationally competitive research projects to be conducted in collaboration with organisations outside the higher education sector, targeting those who have demonstrated a clear commitment to high-quality research
  • encourage growth of a national pool of world-class researchers to meet the needs of the broader Australian innovation system
  • build the scale and focus of research in the national Science and Research Priorities.
Funding

The minimum level of funding provided by the ARC under Linkage Projects is $50,000 per year of funding and the maximum is $300,000 per year of funding per Project, for each year of the Project.  A Project may be applied for and awarded funding for a minimum of two to a maximum of five consecutive years.

Partner Organisations (combined) are expected to provide funding, cash and in-kind, to at least match the amount requested from the ARC. The combined Partner Organisation cash contribution must be at least 25% of the ARC request. Some exemptions apply.

Faculty Processes

The Faculties have their own approval and review processes for grants under this scheme. They may also have deadlines for submission of draft applications that are earlier than the Research Office deadlines. Please ensure that you contact your Faculty, as early as possible, for information on process and deadlines. Faculty contacts:
