About CUDOS @ MQ

CUDOS brings together a powerful team of Australian and International researchers in optical science and photonics technology, whose efforts will lead to significant advancement in the capabilities and knowledge in this crucial field.

CUDOS @ Macquarie in particular has a range of research interests involving micro-fabrication and characterisation of photonic devices. The group is led by Professor Michael Withford, Associate Professors Judith Dawes and Mike Steel, and Dr Alex Fuerbach and draws on over 10 years of expertise developed within the MQ Photonics Research Centre (formerly the Centre for Lasers and Applications) in miniaturisation engineering and laser physics.

The research facilities of CUDOS @ MQ include state-of-the-art labs incorporating high-power femtosecond laser systems, nanometric 3-D positioning systems, advanced micro-optical characterisation facilities, and access to leading supercomputer sites in Australia.

CUDOS is funded by the Australian Research Council under the Centres of Excellence Program , with further support from our seven constituent universities, fifteen partner investigators, and the New South Wales State Government.
