Skew polynomials and phi-modules

Skew polynomials over a field K form a noncommutative ring that is partly behaved like a polynomial ring. They were first introduced by Ore, and arise in various contexts. I will present some properties of these rings and modules over them, that are called phi-modules.

I will then focus on two particular cases of phi-modules: when K is finite, which probably has the most practical applications, and when K = Fq((u)), a field of Laurent series with coefficients in a finite field, which is interesting for its applications to computing with p-adic Galois representations.
