Conditions of Entry

Macquarie University Special Education Centre

MUSEC School for Children with Special Education Needs

Applications for enrolment are considered when the application form and supporting disability documentation are received. Students of primary school age (K-6) with disabilities satisfying one or more of the eligibility criteria (see attached sheet) will be considered for admission to MUSEC School. Parents seeking enrolment for their child should submit a completed application form (including all necessary documentation). An interview between parents, child and MUSEC personnel will follow, after which time an offer of place will be made, if appropriate.

Disclaimer

While every effort will be made to deliver the best educational program for your child, parents are advised that no guarantees can be offered regarding the efficacy of the program for their individual child. Please note that no one in the MUSEC School is authorised to offer such a guarantee.

Transport

Government and non-government bus companies operate services onto the campus. Contact your local bus company or the State Transit Authority (Phone 131 500) for information about services from your area if you are considering this transport option. If transportation is an issue your child may be eligible for Special Transport Services provided by the NSW Department of Education and Training. Application forms for bus passes and/or special transport are available from Client Services on 9850 8691 or e-mail MUSEC reception.

School Terms

School terms at the MUSEC School for Children with Special Learning Needs are similar to other independent NSW schools.

School Hours

Students may arrive at MUSEC at any time after 8:30am but before 9:00am when lessons commence. Students finish school at 2:45pm. Children must be collected promptly and by 3:00pm at the latest. There are two breaks in the day for recess and lunch. Unfortunately, we do not have school canteen facilities so your child will need to bring food and drink for morning tea and lunch.

Regular attendance is essential for your child's progress. We also ask that you ensure that a small amount of homework is completed daily (up to half an hour).
