Workshop - A family check-up
About the workshop
This workshop will provide an overview of the Family Check-Up (FCU), a family-centered intervention for children at risk for problem behaviour. Several randomised controlled trials of the FCU with both early adolescents and toddlers suggest the long-term impact of this brief intervention. After briefly reviewing data on child, parent, and caregiving outcomes, the workshop will provide attendees with an overview of the mechanics of the FCU from the initial phone call and interview with families through assessment, the feedback phases, and follow-up treatment sessions.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- Understand the conceptual premise underlying the Family Check-Up
- Be familiar with the research supporting the FCU’s efficacy
- Have a solid understanding of each component of the FCU
Who should attend
Psychologists, psychology students, and other mental health professionals who work with families.
