The ACCREDIT project

The ACCREDIT project

Strengthening organisational performance through accreditation research: the ACCREDIT project

Project Main Description

Accreditation, a system of organisational improvement based on applying standards and surveying services, is increasingly deployed nationally and internationally. While there are supporters of accreditation amongst stakeholder groups, the empirical evidence for its contribution is inconsistent or does not support the levels of investment. We seek to investigate how and the extent to which accreditation leads to improved organisational performance, quality of care and patient satisfaction in the health system, an early adopter sector with advanced accreditation processes. The proposal aims to conduct a multi-method, triangulated series of studies with key investigators, partner investigators, policy collaborators and international advisors.
