Frequency and variability of haemolysis reporting | Resource | AIHI - Australian Institute of Health Innovation
A benchmark study of the frequency and variability of haemolysis reporting across pathology laboratories: The implications for quality use of pathology and safe and effective patient care.
This project aimed to produce a detailed analysis of haemolysis by reporting the incidence rates found in the literature. Furthermore, analysis of haemolysis rejection rates was determined using the Key Incident Monitoring & Management Systems (KIMMS) dataset. The rate of haemolysis was assessed within five study hospitals in Sydney, with the impact of haemolysis on patient outcomes evaluated. Structured interviews were conducted with laboratories to understand variation in identifying and measuring haemolysis and policies for dealing with haemolysed specimens.
