Women in Science

Join us in celebrating International Women's Day, featuring Young Tall Poppy Science Researchers and other award-winning high profile female researchers talking on science
This free event is designed to:
- provide an insight into exciting scientific research being undertaken by female researchers

- demonstrate to teachers and secondary students how the basic scientific disciplines
underpin different research areas, and - encourage discussion on study and careers in science for women
It is suitable for Year 10 - 12 female students and science teachers, located on campus at Macquarie University.
Program
This year's program includes the keynote speaker: Dr Melanie Bishop, Young Tall Poppy Winner 2011 and NSW Scientist of the Year 2010 in the category of the Environment, Water and Climate Change Sciences.
After a panel discussion In the afternoon, we will provide the opportunity for students to meet staff from the Faculties of Science and Human Sciences, view displays, demonstrations, and ask questions about careers and study at Macquarie University.
