The Position
The role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Provost) is a new position at Macquarie University, created in 2006. As chief academic officer of the University, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Provost) provides leadership in planning, policy development and management of resources to ensure the fulfilment of the University’s mission through the achievement of strategic goals.
The Provost has overall responsibility for the planning, quality and delivery of education provided to Macquarie’s undergraduate and graduate students. The Portfolio encompasses the Divisions; and academic support units such as the Library, the Centre for Professional Development and the Centre for Flexible Learning. The activities carried out in the Provost’s office are undertaken in close consultation and cooperation with the Academic Senate. The Deputy President of the Academic Senate is a close advisor and strategic contributor to the discussions and debates carried out in the Committees established to build quality at Macquarie.

I have come to this role excited about the challenges and opportunities that it affords. I believe that Macquarie is on the verge of a significant change that will position us strongly for the future. I am keen to develop open lines of communication to ensure that Macquarie’s aspirations for excellence locally, nationally and internationally are achieved.
