Policy Development Flowchart (text version)

Issue
Does it need a new or revised policy? If no, there is no further action. If yes, Policy Development is undertaken. This involves two-way Stakeholder Consultation.

After Policy Development is completed, the draft policy is referred to the University Policy Reference Group.

The Group determines if the Policy complies with format requirements. If it doesn’t, the policy is returned for further policy development. If it does, it is forwarded to the relevant Approval Authority (i.e. Academic Senate, DVCs/Executive, Council).

The Approval Authority decides whether or not to approve the policy. If it is not approved, it is returned to the beginning of the cycle for a decision as to whether or not it is required. If the policy is approved, it is sent to the University Secretary and General Council for publishing on Policy Central.
