Banksia Cottage
Banksia Cottage is a 90 place centre open Monday to Friday, 50 weeks per year.
Banksia Cottage enrolments are open to Macquarie University students and staff.
Banksia Cottage is a fully licensed and accredited long day care centre. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are provided daily as well as a late snack.
Our Curriculums
Banksia Cottage is committed to delivering educational programs that are child focused, play based and reflective of current research. We have University and TAFE qualified staff who are trained in delivering high quality educational curriculums which stimulate and encourage children's passion for learning.
The curriculums developed by Banksia Cottage highlight the importance of relationships and respect which we believe are essential for learning and development. The curriculums offered enable children to be actively engaged through exploring, questioning, communicating, practicing and refining skills.
All of our philosophy and practices are underpinned by the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics and reflective of the Early Years Learning Framework
Our Rooms
The five (5) rooms on offer cater for the individual needs of children and are organised according to their age group.
Possum Room: 3 months - 18 months
12 children with 4 staff
Cockatoo Room: 18 months - 2 years
12 children with 4 staff
Wombat Room: 2 years - 3 years
16 children with 3 staff
Echidna Room: 3 years - 4 years
20 children with 3 staff
Koala Room: 4 years - 5 years
20 children with 3 staff
Our Team
The team at Banksia Cottage are passionate about early childhood education. We continuously strive to deliver engaging environments for young children based on their interests, strengths and needs.
Our aim at Banksia is to give all children the best possible start in life and we endeavour to do this by having caring, loving staff that are highly qualified and exceptional in the field of childcare. At Banksia we employ 5 Early Childhood Teachers, 10 Diploma qualified staff along with 5 staff who hold a Certificate Three.
Our team come together with passion and understanding of the importance of valuing children.
