Macquarie University will throw open its doors this Saturday 20th August showcasing its world-class campus for its 2016 Open Day event. Over 6000 visitors are expected to visit the campus to explore the facilities and expertise of one of Australia’s premier universities.
Macquarie’s Open Day will give visitors the chance to discover more about the University’s unique learning opportunities with a range of advice sessions, over 100 lectures and hands-on activities. Mini-lectures have been designed to give visitors a taste of uni life, with experts sharing their tips for degree choices and opportunities like overseas exchange and scholarships.
Hear from world-leading hearing expert Professor David McAlpine on how lives are being improved by the advancements in communication technology, intervention and rehabilitation services. Visitors will also have the chance to take part in a free hearing screening check.
Be inspired by Big History pioneer Professor David Christian and his interdisciplinary way of looking at the place of humankind in the context of the evolution of the universe. Visitors will also hear about Macquarie’s Big History bonus points scheme.
Some other highlights on the day will include:
• Take a tour and get hands-on in state-of-the-art facilities including the Simulation Hub and Virtual Reality lab.
• Discover the many treasures to be found in the University’s museums and galleries
• Visit the World of Engineering to test out some cool gadgets and meet some robots
• Get a free health check in the Macquarie University Health Sciences Centre marquee
• Take a tour of the Universities state-of-the-art laboratories including the Biology Lab, Chiropractic Lab, Chemistry Lab and Physics Lab.
• Visit our range of Museum's, Art Gallery and check out the University’s robotic system, which finds and delivers books in the state-of-the-art library
• Come and meet Sydney FC and Sydney Rays players, and take part in some fun activities like table tennis and bubble soccer.
