Student Grievances

Issues relating to policy and procedure are central to our representative role, but some of our most valuable work is undertaken with individual students who are faced with difficult circumstances.

There are hundreds of reasons you might potentially need MUPRA’s assistance as a postgraduate at Macquarie University. You may feel you’ve been treated unfairly in your studies, or are dissatisfied with the wrong academic advice and find you can’t graduate as you expected, or you’ve been discriminated against.

In resolving your grievance we strongly recommend you start with the Deans’ office. That is, the Dean of Students or the Dean of Higher Degree Research. One of the Deans roles is to advise students about University procedures beyond the information available at the Centre, Department or Divisional level, and to resolve complex issues. While MUPRA is able to offer you various levels of support in your case, unfortunately we do not have the resources to provide the same level of authority on procedural matters.
