Grants and Scholarships

In conjunction with the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Centre offers one traveling scholarship and one essay prize each year.

1. Traveling Scholarship $3000 (To e Confirmed)
The traveling scholarship is to help a Macquarie student visit the Middle East for the purposes of study or research.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a 500-700 word proposal. The proposal should provide:
Details of the study or research you propose doing whilst there
What benefits you or others will derive from this
Where you will be going
When you expect to go
Brief details of costs involved
Information about your studies and activities so far.
The scholarship is open to students going to the Middle East on an individual trip or as part of a group or on an exchange student program.

Conditions:
a) The scholarship is open only to students who have studied or are enrolled in any of the following courses at Macquarie University: POL266, POL321, POL369, and IRPG843.
b) The intended travel should concentrate on Arab countries.
c) The travelling scholarship will be presented at the December meeting of the Australian Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sydney. The winner is expected to attend the meeting to formally receive the prize.
d) The travel must be undertaken in the 12 months after receiving the scholarship.
e) Applicants will be required to report on their travel to the August Annual General Meeting of the Australia Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry following their return as part of the terms & conditions of receiving the award.

Closing date: 5pm on October 31.

2. Essay Prize $1000
Students studying the Middle East at Macquarie University are invited to submit an essay they have written as part of their course. The most outstanding essay will win a cash prize of $1000.
The prize is open only to students who have studied or are enrolled in any of the following courses at Macquarie: POL266, POL321, POL369, and IRPG843.
A clean (unmarked) copy of the essay must be submitted.
The Prize will be presented at the December meeting of the Australian Arab Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Sydney. The winner will be expected to attend the meeting to formally receive the prize.

Closing date: 5pm on October 31.
Essays must be submitted to Dr Andrew Vincent, W6A room 315.

 

Exchange agreements

Macquarie University holds exchange agreements with several Universities in the Middle East and more agreements are currently under negotiation, allowing students and staff access to study in numerous countries.
