May 15.
Saturday. — The Barwell Indiaman, Commanded by Capt. Welladvice, arrived this day in Four months from England; I received no Letters by her. —

I spent this day very agreeably in a Party given by Mr. Page on the Breach water on board of a jung-Gaur, in which we dined and had a Concert. —

May 24.
Monday. The 8th. and 11th. Battalions of Seapoys [sic], commanded by Captains Little and Alexr. Mc.Donald, Embark'd this day for Service; – a Company of Artillery, under Capt. Thomson embark'd at the same time and for the same Service — Supposed to be destined for the Maratta Country to act with the Maratta Army against Tippoo Saib. — The above Detachment Sailed on the Day it embarked. —

May 30.
The Frances [sic] East Indiaman Commanded by Capt. Burrowes arrived on the afternoon of this day from England. — I only received one letter by her from Capt. Lundin of Auchtermairnie.
