July 14.
I wrote of this date to my Brother Charles, and sent my letter by Lt. Anderson to Bengal to be forwarded by the Vestal Frigate for England.

July 31.
Saturday. The Henry Dundas East Indiaman, Commanded by Capt. MacNab, arrived from England having sailed from thence on the 1st. of April; Lieut. Brown and Eighty one Recruits for our Regts. came in this Ship; I had the pleasure to receive letters from the following Friends at home vizt. Uncle Lochbuy, Broyr. Charles, Genl. Maclean, Torloisk, Capt. Lundin, and Capt. Duncanson; - and these letters afforded me much real pleasure and satisfaction; as they communicated good and agreeable accounts of my Family and Friends. —
