Managing Your Online Units
This document will help you to prepare your Online Unit for the approaching Study Period. Take a few minutes to complete the steps outlined below.
1. Activate
Online Unit Activation
Log-on to http://learn.mq.edu.au in Blackboard CE6.

Click LTCUNITS Manage Units from the My Online Units list. If you can not find LTCUNITS Manage Units, please contact ltchelp@mq.edu.au
Click the Manage Units from the menu (this area allows you to activate and manage student access to your Online Unit).
Click the Details link for your selected Online Unit.

Complete the online forms to update the contact and other details for your Online Unit (eg Convenor's details, Unit title and department etc.).

Click The above details are correct - activate unit button (bottom of the screen) and view the confirmation message.
2. Enrol
Student Enrolment requires you to create automatic student enrolment settings. Your students are identified as a cohort by Mode and Study Period (ie internal INT, external EXT, Semester 1 FHFYR, Semester 2 SHFYR).
Log-on to http://learn.mq.edu.au in Blackboard CE6.
Click LTCUNITS Manage Units from the My Online Units list.
Click the Manage Units from the menu.
Click the Students link for your selected Online Unit.

Check Automatic Student Enrolment is currently turned ON and edit any date settings as required.

Click Add Enrolment Units button (bottom of the screen).
Enter your Enrolment Unit code (eg STAT123, ENG900) and click the Choose modes button.

Select the appropriate enrolment modes from the list (ie internal, external etc), then click the Select these modes button. Read the confirmation screen then click the Add this enrolment button.
Please note: Your students should be enrolled and have access to your Online Unit by noon on the date that you specify.
3. Reset
Once you have activated your online unit and created enrollment settings you are ready to reset your unit then check and amend the content, Assessments, Weblinks, Student View etc.
Reset your existing Online Unit (this will erase all previous Discussion postings, Mail messages and Assessments without affecting Discussion topics and content such as Weblinks, Learning Modules and other files).
Log-on to http://learn.mq.edu.au and access your Online Unit.
Click the Teach tab then click Manage Course (under Instructor Tools).
Click Reset.
(Optional) Select the appropriate check boxes to unenrol Section Designers or Teaching Assistants.
Note: Students and Auditors will be automatically unenrolled regardless of whether you select these additional roles.Click Continue. My Online Units appears. Note: Your Online Unit will be unavailable until the reset is complete. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your unit or the number of messages it contains.

4. Check
Access your Online Unit and complete the following tasks before the start of each study period:
Check browser settings on all computers that you will use to access your Online Unit (ie work, home).
Test that you can use the tools in your unit (eg Discussions, Announcements etc)
Update any content (eg dates, times, lecture notes, Weblinks, Learning Modules and other files)
Set-up Discussion topics in your Online Unit (if relevant).
Link your iLectures in your Online Unit (or check any existing links).
Create and check any Assessments and Assignments (pay particular attention to the availability and dates).
Check your Online Unit in Student View (ie click on the Student View tab to see how a student will view your content and other aspects of your Online Unit).
