Curriculum Renewal Program

Between 2008 and 2009, staff at Macquarie will engage in both an Academic Program Review and a Curriculum Renewal process with the intention of consolidating the university's program offerings to ensure that they are of exemplary standard and coherent with institutional goals.

The overarching goal of the Curriculum Renewal Program is to enhance students' engagement, learning experiences and outcomes through reviewing and renewing Macquarie curricula. This will involve a thorough review of all Macquarie programs with respect to:

  • their contribution to developing graduate capabilities
  • their structure (inclusive of both elements and sequence)
  • the currency of the course content
  • the alignment of the program outcomes
  • the quality of teaching, learning activities and assessment tasks
  • the alignment of the same within and between units, and
  • the extent to which the quality of student engagement and transition through their program is a priority.

This review process will be followed by the development and implementation of enhanced / renewed curricula. In order to achieve both curricula review and renewal, the Curriculum Renewal Program will be led by the Learning and Teaching Centre through a focus on five contiguous projects:
