Research Workshops - Developing a research program - Tue 2 June, 10am-12pm

If you are an early career researcher, this workshop is for you! In the competitive international research market, it is not enough to write a single paper a year. To ensure that you are in a good position to be invited into research teams or gain promotion, it is important to develop a research program (rather than a single research project). In this workshop we will discuss strategies that can help form a research direction for the future.

Higher Education Reviews and News: Bradley, Butler, the Budget and us! - Thu 11 June, 1-2pm

Venturous Australia (the Cutler Report) and the Review of Higher Education (Bradley Report) were released in late 2008, with the Government responding to some of the recommendations (via speeches by the Ministers concerned) in March this year. The Federal Budget handed down on May 12 sets the Government’s immediate policy priorities for Higher Education and provides some indication of longer-term policy intentions and directions.

This workshop provides an opportunity to explore the review recommendations, the Government’s response and the implications of the Budget, and to discuss the likely impact on learning, teaching and research at Macquarie. It will be of general interest to all teaching, research and professional staff and of particular interest to staff members involved in strategy, planning and resource allocation at Program, Department and Faculty levels.
