A Voice from China: understanding the expectations of Chinese students as they make the transition to University Study.
Data collected in 2008 shows that international students studying at Macquarie spend much more time on campus than other students and that they are working very hard to understand what is expected of them in the context of university study. Liyun Huang, visiting scholar from Guangxi University, will explore some of the issues that she has considered in students making the transition to university study in China. She will discuss issues such as the expectations that students have of the curriculum, of the systems of pastoral support and of the ways in which they understand how to structure their individual study time.
