Introduction to Education in a Virtual World (Second Life) - Mon 20 April, 12.00-2.00pm
Second Life is a 3D virtual world, which educators all over the world are using to explore and imagine new ways of teaching and learning. As well as the convenience of being a space for eLearning, it is an imaginative, playful space where students enjoy experiencing new ways of looking at issues, new ways of participating in educational contexts, and where students are learning to network, contribute and teach others. This workshop introduces staff to the learning and teaching ‘space’ in Second life.
Introduction to Blogging - Tues 21 April, 12.00-1.00pm
Another in the series of Educational Technology “Digital Literacy” Workshops, this 1 hr hands-on session will introduce the basics of blogging. In this workshop we will look at the do’s and don’ts, why’s and wherefore’s of Blogging. We will take a brief look at some popular blogging platforms including, WordPress and EduBlogs and participants will practice searching, commenting and either create their own blog or design an activity for students around blogging. Bring along your ideas, find your feet in the world of online self-publishing and see what others do with Blogs.
