Next steps for the Bradley Review
Written by Agnes Bosanquet on February 13th, 2009
In December last year, this blog posted on the release of the Bradley report and the media commentary around it, but where to from here? Over the next few weeks, Julia Gillard is hosting roundtable discussions to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to respond to the recommendations in the report.
To briefly recap, these recommendations include a target of 40% of 25 to 35 year olds with a degree by 2020, changes to student income support, a feasibility study for a new regional university, and a student-entitlement system of funding. Read the Bradley report here.
Also under consideration are the recommendations of the Cutler Review on Innovation, which include a review of innovative educational reforms overseas, changes to research funding, increasing postgraduate awards to $25k per year over four years, and a global digital public commons for information and research funded by governments. Read the Cutler report here.
The government’s response is expected in early March.
