Macquarie University encourages joint PhD enrolment with other research active international universities. Higher degree research candidates enrolled in a PhD are able to enrol both at Macquarie and another international university and obtain a degree from each institution while under a co-tutelle agreement. Information about the co-tutelle and a sample agreement for review by international partner institutions is available. Australian domestic students enrolled at Macquarie University are particularly encouraged to apply.
Further information
Researchers at Macquarie have a long history of collaboration with researchers world-wide. Many of these networks are informal, but many more are formal. The university has a series of research agreements with institutions overseas and encourages the development of robust research networks. An example of such a network is 'DoctoRALnet' which links ten universities in locations such as Australia, Europe, Canada, South Africa and Asia. An important component of research networking is the establishment of research relationships between HDR candidates and also with established researchers. If you would like to find out more about the establishment of such networks, please get in touch with the Learning and Teaching Centre.
Following the successful completion of undergraduate or post-graduate courses, many international students find Macquarie a good place to undertake a Research Degree. Macquarie International provides on-line assistance to potential international research candidates. Professor Ernest Jordan (ernest.jordan@io.mq.edu.au) is the Director International HDR Marketing and Development and can assist you with enquiries regarding Joint University Degrees and research opportunities for International Students.
