Biography

Currently Marina has been appointed as a research co-ordinator on the Quality Teaching in Sessional Staff project at Macquarie University, a project jointly led by the Centre for Professional Development and the Institute of Early Childhood. She is also a Lecturer in the Institute for Higher Educational Research and Development (IHERD).

Marina began her teaching career as a head teacher in secondary schools and then lectured for nearly twenty years in teacher education at Sydney Institute of Education, later becoming the Faculty of Education, Sydney University. She has also taught in undergraduate programs at the Institute of Early Childhood, Macquarie University. During this time she held roles as exam committee member and Chair for the NSW Board of Studies.

As a consultant she has produced a range of training and resource materials for organisations including NRMA and Film Australia. Then as a project officer on the Child, Family and Community Education @ Macquarie project she developed, planned and implemented a wide range of professional development seminars and conferences that were conducted both in metropolitan Sydney and in regional New South Wales.

Her research interest is in work and family issues, having recently completed her doctoral thesis, which examined the work and family environments of educational organisations. One of her research findings was that there was a significant difference in the work environments of a tertiary educational organisation compared to the work environments of the primary and secondary educational organisations.

She has also recently, and proudly, become a Basketball Australia Level 2 Scoretable Official, meaning she can fill in a scoresheet using four different coloured pens.
