The Christian Brethren is more of a movement than a denomination. We are a loose collection of independent churches that hold certain values in common. "The Brethren movement began at a time of widespread criticism of the established church." ["The Origins of the Brethren" H. H. Rowdon (1967)] The history of the Brethren movement began in 1826 and included such prominent names as J.N. Darby, George Muller and F.F Bruce. The key values are generally accepted that every member is a true Christian, leadership is by a team of elders and ministry on the basis of gift rather than special designation. Here's a little bit about myself: I grew up in Sydney's Hills district and studied Economics at Sydney Uni before becoming an auditor for Price Waterhouse and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. I began working with Student Life at Macquarie Uni and became a Chaplain at Macquarie Uni in 1995. "Geoff is the team leader for Student Life at Macquarie Uni. He is committed to seeing the Great Commission fulfilled on our campus and in our world. Focussing on a ministry of evangelism and discipleship, Geoff has been deeply involved in the lives of many Australian students. He has also had the opportunity to spend two summers in India working on university campuses with Campus Crusade for Christ (Student Life's international organisation). He has spent a year at the University of Colorado (Boulder, Colorado)." For more information about Student Life check out our website at www.studentlife.org.au. << BACK |
