If you wish to offer work experience to accounting students, we invite you to join our Work Experience Program (WEP).
Key features of WEP include:
WEP organises accounting work experience placements for the Master of Accounting students who have been studying in the program for one year. The students are also prepared for the placement by attending a one-day Gaining Work Experience workshop as well as interviews with the program coordinator who assesses their suitability for placement and advises on mutual host, student and university obligations.
The range of tasks that the students may be engaged in can include bookkeeping, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, payroll reconciliation, bank reconciliation, expense reconciliation, GST report/record, BAS statement, tax returns, financial analysis, general ledger, audit, budgeting and similar responsible tasks.
Simply express your interest in joining the WEP program by emailing careers@mq.edu.au. The coordinator will then contact you regarding a suitable referral.
“We are a not for profit organisation and our staffing resources are limited. The assistance of the students provided in our audit work allowed us to utilise their knowledge and skills to help us with our workload.”
“I am very happy to be able to help students who are looking for professional work experience as I was in that situation myself before. WEP is a very good program to help students gain work experience to find a job after their study.”
“The referred student was a very proactive person and a quick learner. I offered the student a part time job at the end of the placement. The student is a valuable addition to us.”
