About 310 Macquarie athletes headed to the Gold Coast on 23-27 September for the 2007 Australian University Games. This year it was expected more than 6,600 university athletes would converge on the Gold Coast for the week-long event.

Between them they have won six of the country's most prestigious research prizes and twice in recent years iconic BBC documentary-maker, Sir David Attenborough, has beaten a path to their doors. Working in the footsteps of Charles Darwin, Centre for the Integrative Study of Animal Behavior director, Professor Chris Evans, says the modern study of animal behaviour is far from esoteric, and would continue to make important contributions to conservation, robotics and understanding human behaviour.
