Library Benefits

Alumni are provided with free borrowing privileges, as well as access to three online databases.

Borrowing

Membership of the Library for Macquarie University alumni is provided free of charge. Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of issue. This entitles alumni to borrow 5 items for 2 weeks. (No renewals or reservations)

Please allow approximately 10 business days for your application to be approved.

If you have provided an email address in your application, the Library will email you regarding the process of issuing you with an Alumni Library Card. If you do not have access to email, please phone the Library on ph: 9850 7507 to check if your application has been processed.

Database Access

Macquarie University alumni are eligible for free remote access to two EBSCO Alumni Databases (Academic Search Alumni Edition, and Business Source Alumni Edition) and also to Business Monitor Online.

A separate user ID and password for EBSCO Alumni and Business Monitor Online will be provided on receipt of your application, and will be valid throughout 2008.

Both EBSCO Alumni databases provide access to a range of full-text journals and citation/abstract only for other journal articles.

Business Monitor Online provides access to daily macroeconomics, financial and company news and analysis on emerging and key global markets.

Alumni are eligible for career consultations, advice on career change and review strategies, use of the Career Resource Centre and participation in training workshops and career seminars. The CDO will charge a $50 fee for an initial consultation and two follow up meetings.

Centre for Open Education

The Centre for Open Education has agreed to waive the Non-Award application fee for alumni ($60 savings), provided that:

Staff at COE will not be able to confirm your eligibility for the fee waiver unless you provide this documentation, and previously paid application fees will not be refunded.

Applications submitted after the on-time closing date for each semester will incur a $100 late fee.

Macquarie University Sports and Aquatic Centre

Macquarie University Sports and Aquatic Centre Special Alumni Offer

After years on the drawing board, the $17 million Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre opened in July 2007. It features an outdoor 50m FINA compliant competition pool, a 25 metre indoor pool, a new state of the art gymnasium as well as new group fitness, cycling and yoga studios. The existing squash courts, basketball hall, badminton courts and a martial arts hall will remain, making the new Centre one of the most significant Centres in Sydney.
