An alumna/alumnus is a Latin word meaning "former student".
Graduation marks the conclusion of a significant stage of the Macquarie Experience for students and the commencement of another – a lifelong relationship with the University through its alumni community.
The Macquarie University alumni community comprises of over 110,000 graduates living in more than 120 countries around the world. At Macquarie, we broaden the traditional definition of the term 'alumni' and include current students, past and present members of staff, parents of students, volunteers as well as donors and friends of the University.
Graduates automatically become members of the Macquarie alumni community and are encouraged to maintain active and continuing contact with fellow graduates and the University.
The Alumni Relations Office at Macquarie University organises a range of social and professional activities and programs to help alumni STAY IN TOUCH and CONNECTED. These include:
- Alumni chapters and networks across the globe
- Invitations to exclusive Alumni events and programs
- Opportunities to share their success stories with fellow alumni
Our alumni have access to a wide range of exclusive ALUMNI BENEFITS including:
- Discounted memberships and subscriptions
- Access to the Macquarie University library
- Ongoing career assistance
- Regular updates, newsletters and more
Alumni have the opportunity to GET INVOLVED as a MACQUARIE AMBASSADOR. This exciting initiative taps into the volunteer spirit of alumni and encourages them to share their personal and professional experiences with students, fellow alumni and the broader University community.
Alumni Relations is integrated into the activities of the Office of Institutional Advancement whose primary objective is to foster a Macquarie Experience that evolves into a life-long, mutually beneficial relationship.
Alumni Relations is committed to facilitating and supporting the connection between all members of the University alumni community by encouraging them to take an active part in Macquarie's development.
