Paul Bowler
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer and Registrar
Mr Paul Bowler joined Macquarie University in December 2006 as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer and Registrar.
The role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer has overall responsibility for the areas of Finance, Information Technology, Sustainability, Business Development (spin offs, licenses, intellectual property, the science park), Capital Development and Management, Internal Audit, Investment Strategy and Facilities.
Mr Bowler is also the Registrar of the University and this function covers Admissions, Enrolments, Records and Student Services.
Mr Bowler, who is formerly of London, holds qualifications from Cranfield (MBA), Loughborough (BSc) and Leicester Universities (MA).
From 2003 to 2006, he was Managing Director at Brunel University in London, where he worked closely with Macquarie University’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Steven Schwartz.
Prior to that, Mr Bowler held senior positions in the Investment Banking industry. He was Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Greenwich Capital Markets in the United States of America from 1998 to 2003. Previously he held the position of Chief Administrative Officer and Managing Director for Natwest Markets in London, United Kingdom.
