What is it?
Transport is how we commute from one destination to another. 'Sustainable transport' refers to environmentally friendly methods of commuting, such as public transport, walking or cycling. At Macquarie, however, we think that all transport should and can be sustainable!
Why is it important?
Macquarie University related travel equates to 17,029 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent per annum, representing approximately 0.1% of the total road transport greenhouse gas emissions in NSW.
Our average annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by staff and students is 443 kilograms per capita!
