Child Language Lab

The Child Language Lab studies the process of early child language acquisition, focusing especially on phonology and morpho-syntax. This includes studies of children acquiring Australian English as their native language as well children being raised bilingually, early child second language acquisition, children with hearing loss,  and children with language delay (SLI).

Professor Katherine Demuth

The lab is directed by ARC Laureate Fellow Professor Katherine Demuth, who established the lab as a  synergistic research group for staff, postdocs and students.  Katherine Demuth is a Professor in Linguistics at Macquarie University, a Chief Investigator at the new ARC Centre of Excellence for Cognition and its Disorders (CCD), and a member of the Centre for Language Sciences (CLaS).
