Department of Sociology
Honours
The Department of Sociology has a vibrant and growing honours program. The program appeals to students intending to pursue further study at Masters and Doctor of Philosophy level (indeed, it is an entry requirement for such postgraduate research degrees), as well as those who seek the experience and research skills valued in the graduate labour market. Honours in sociology is an ideal way to round off your undergraduate degree, allowing students to pursue theoretical issues and research design problems in sociology at an advanced level.
In addition to advanced level seminar work, students write a thesis that offers first hand experience of independent scholarship and research. As Honours students in the Department of Sociology, they will join a community of scholars and research students dedicated to pursuing sociological reflection and debate across a range of areas from applied research and policy analysis to sociological theory and cultural analysis.
We welcome enquiries at any time of the year but remind potential applicants that applications close on 31 October of each year. For more information, please refer to the Honours in Sociology policy, which details Honours entry requirements, and also browse Frequently Asked Questions about Honours in Sociology.
Application procedures and forms are available from the Undergraduate Studies webpage at: http://www.studentadmin.mq.edu.au/honours/index.html
