Russian Studies covers language and culture units, providing a full sequence in Russian as well as an in-country study program. All units are offered on campus as well as by distance education. A full description of each unit can be found via the Russian units page.

Beginners units do not require any prior knowledge of Russian. A full sequence of units leading to coherent study above 200 level is available to students in the beginners stream.

Students who do not wish to major in Russian may enrol in any of the units listed above, as long as relevant prerequisites have been met. Note that some units have no prerequisites.

The following general education units are taught in English and do not require knowledge of Russian:

• RSN105 Russian Society and Culture (3)
• RSN325 Russian Cinema (3)
• RSN305 Women in Russian Culture (3)

The study materials for RSN325 and RSN305 are designed to suit both students who want to study Russian culture in English and students who want to improve their knowledge of the Russian language.
