The Polish Studies Foundation

The Polish Studies Foundation is a non -profit organisation established by Macquarie University, in conjunction with representatives of the Polish Community in Sydney. The Foundation was formed to raise money through private donations and sponsorships to support the teaching of Polish Studies at Macquarie University. The Foundation promotes the Polish Studies program by disseminating information through the ethnic community media, liaising with Polish Community language schools and other organisations, as well as organising cultural events for the Polish Community. The Foundation has assisted Polish Studies by covering the costs of printing textbooks, providing scholarships for students living outside of NSW and the ACT and prizes for outstanding students.

The Foundation has a management committee elected by its members at an Annual General Meeting. The committee meets with University representatives several times per year. The Foundation's financial activities are conducted under the auspices of the University's Office of Financial Services. All donations received by the Foundation are deposited with the University. All expenditure made by the Foundation comes from interest earned on our modest capital.

The Foundation is indebted to its many generous donors, particularly those whose large donations have enabled the Foundation to offer incentives to Polish Studies students. A donation of $25,000 from Mrs Eudoksja Rakowska has enabled the Foundation to provide the Jan Rakowski memorial scholarships to interstate students. Donations totaling $13,500 from Krystyna and Boleslaw Singler provided the basis of the Singler memorial prize for most outstanding student of the year. Mrs Natalia Kulakowska, former director of Carinia Records has also generously donated $25,000, with a further $25,000 being donated on behalf of her company.

The Foundation continues to welcome all donations and new members. Foundation members pay an annual donation of $30, which is tax deductible. Donations may be sent to:
