Department of Indigenous Studies - Staff

I'm an astronomer in the Research Centre for Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Astrophotonics and part of the Aboriginal Astronomy Project at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. I have a joint appointment between the Department of Indigenous Studies (Research) and the Department of Physics & Astronomy (Outreach).
My research interests are primarily in Cultural Astronomy, where I research the astronomical knowledge and traditions of Indigenous Australians (often termed "Aboriginal Astronomy"). I enjoy visiting archaeological sites and working with Aboriginal communities, particularly the Dharawal (NSW), Wathaurong (VIC), and Wardaman (NT). I also have research interests in the history of science, observational astrophysics, meteorite impacts & meteor science, science education and skepticism/critical thinking.
I'm the administration and development officer for the Macquarie University Planetarium and Observatory. I'm also an astronomy educator at Sydney Observatory and work occasionally as an archaeologist for a consultancy firm in Newcastle. As part of my outreach work, I developed and edit the Aboriginal Astronomy Blog.
