SPORT LEADER PROGRAM
Sport & Recreation within Campus Life have recently developed a two-year Sport Leader Program to support the future leaders of the Sport and Fitness Industry. The program will utilise their fantastic training and development offerings, enabling Sport to become a training ground for high potential graduates and become an industry leader in professional development.
The program will focus on recruiting graduates with a relevant degree/qualification, elite athletes, or candidates with extensive experience within the sport and fitness industry. Key to the application process will be seeking candidates with a dedication and passion for the industry.
This will be the first round offering of the Sport Leader Program beginning in late 2016, and will act as a pilot program for future programs and the potential expansion into other areas within the business.
We will offer you a training ground to become a future leader of the Sport and Fitness Industry, by providing a building blocks to develop your professional and leadership skills. At the end of the two-year period you will be highly skilled, experienced, qualified and ready to take on the Sport and Fitness Industry.
We want to bring together motivated future leaders of the Sport and Fitness Industry and enable the opportunity to grow a peer support network.
The program has been developed with a 70:20:10 approach to learning:
- 70% - relevant on-the-job experiences, tasks, and problem solving – we want you to put your theory and knowledge into practice
- 20% - mentoring from leaders across the business and industry
- 10% - formal training and qualifications
The learning and development focus over the first year will be basic professional skills, hands on managerial opportunities and leadership development. While in the second year you will be able to build on your business and industry awareness and exposure, gain opportunities in project management, financial resourcing and be enabled to take your next steps into the Sport and Fitness Industry.
Once you have successfully completed your two years you will take away a portfolio of achievements, training and experiences allowing you to stand out in this fast paced and dynamic industry.
WHO ARE WE AFTER?
- Passionate, committed people who want to be involved in the Sport and Fitness Industry
- Someone looking for a long-term career in Sport and Fitness
- Either a recent graduate (or due to complete within 6 months) in the field of sport (inclusive of an undergraduate degree, TAFE certificate or relevant qualification); OR an elite athlete; OR high levels of experience
- Relevant qualifications to role
- A current Working with Children Check, First Aid and CPR (or willing to obtain)
- Demonstrated commitment to the Campus Life values
Gymnastics Team Leader
Reporting to the Gymnastics Coordinator, the Gymnastics Team Leader will hold primary accountability for the development of the program including the establishment of teaching protocols, benchmarking best practice and recommendations of advances in the industry. The Gymnastics Team Leader will ensure a high level of customer participation and the delivery of outstanding customer service to both current and new members, while providing continuous mentoring to a large casual team on ways to improve the overall program.
This position will directly involve a frontline role within the scope of the Gymnastics program, and will be required to attend Gymnastics competitions as defined by the competitive calendar.
Operations Team Leader
Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Operations Team Leader will perform a key role in supervising the daily operations of the Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre and the Duty Manager staff. The position will ensure the safety and wellbeing of our patrons through observing, educating and providing assistance; whilst maintaining a high level of customer service. Taking a proactive approach to identifying and minimising risk will be crucial to the success of this position and the effective running of the Centre.
Sales & Engagement Consultant
The Sales & Engagement Consultant will play an essential role in driving sales, retention and marketing opportunities for the Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre. The position will focus on meeting our membership targets through incoming and outbound sales, and taking a proactive approach to identifying and developing new opportunities. Being results driven, energetic and self-motivated; whilst providing consistent outstanding customer service, will be critical to the success of this position.
Member Engagement Team Leader
The Member Engagement Team Leader will be responsible for providing and ensuring the successful delivery of excellent customer service to patrons of the Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre. Reporting to the Member Engagement Coordinator, this position will assist in the daily operations of the Member Engagement desk; including cash handling, managing complaints and staff recruitment, training and supervision. The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, a strong customer focus and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will involve the following:
Applications close: 30 October
First Round: face to face panel interview week commencing 31 October
Second Round: a presentation to the Sport Manager and General Manager, Sport & Recreation
Reference Checks: current/most recent employer and previous employer
