Privacy Policy Updates

Due to changes made regarding privacy policy laws in early 2015. Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre has amended its Privacy Policy notices. The amendments to the privacy collection notice is below.

Relevant update information for Health Club, gymnastics, swim school and martial arts members

U@MQ is collecting your personal information on this form in relation to you/your child's application for a Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre membership. The information on this form will be used primarily for the assessment of your application and the administration of the payments and our services to you.  We may also use this information for alternate administrative purposes that may include auditing, software system support, program evaluation or to facilitate electronic payments.  For the same purpose U@MQ may disclose your personal information to a third party provider of these services that may include LINKS Modular Solutions, LINKSPAY, National Australia Bank, Macquarie university and its controlled entities.  When storing your personal information electronically, U@MQ may disclose your personal information to overseas recipients by virtue of its third party hosting arrangements. These cloud based servers are likely to be located in the United Kingdom, United States or countries within the European Union.  Otherwise we will not disclose your personal information without your consent unless authorised or required by law.  The provision of your personal information is voluntary, but if you do not provide the information we will not be able to process your application or administer your membership. You may request access to your information at any time. Relevant update information relating to Direct Debit details

U@MQ is collecting your personal information on this form to set up a direct debit from your nominated account for payments to U@MQ. The information will only be accessed by authorised U@MQ employees. For the same purpose U@MQ may disclose your personal information to your nominated financial institution specified on this form. We may also use this information for alternate administrative purposes that may include auditing, software system support, program evaluation or to facilitate electronic payments.  For the same purpose U@MQ may disclose your personal information to a third party provider of these services that may include LINKS Modular Solutions, LINKSPAY, National Australia Bank, Macquarie university and its controlled entities. Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre

The Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre is operated by U@MQ Limited, a controlled entity of Macquarie University. The Centre is committed to ensuring that your personal and health information is handled in accordance with the privacy laws which apply to U@MQ Limited.


Collection of your personal and health information

We collect personal and health information directly from you when you sign up for membership with the Centre or when you make enquires with us.  In the case of an emergency we may need to collect information about you from an emergency contact or another person who can assist in providing the appropriate care to you.


Security of information collected

Your information may be held in a variety of ways, including in paper or electronic format. Most commonly your information will be held as an electronic record forming part of a secure database at the Centre. We may also hold photographic images taken of you, in our database.

We protect your information from unauthorised access loss and other misuse by allowing only restricted access to authorised personnel to your information.  


Use of your personal and health information

We use the personal and health information which we have collected from you for the following purposes:

  • to respond to your queries, process your application and to issue you with a membership card;
  • to keep you updated and informed as to changes and events at the Centre;
  • to assess your sporting ability and to design a program suited to your needs;
  • to contact you for feedback on our services, including seeking your participation in surveys;
  • for administrative purposes including funding, planning, safety and improvement of our services;
  • to staff and students for training purposes; and
  • to personnel within the University for the purposes of managing a complaint, legal action or claim brought against the Centre

Disclosure of your information

We disclose your information to the following types of parties:

  • to the parties nominated by you in the case of an emergency;
  • in the case of an emergency, to emergency services (for example the police, doctor, ambulance, fire brigade); and
  • where the Centre is authorised or required by law to comply with a request for your personal or health information, for example, in response to a subpoena or warrant if your information is required as evidence.

If you do not wish for us to collect, use or disclose information about you, you may tell us and we will discuss the consequences of this with you. It may not be possible for us to provide the services we offer if you are unable to provide us with the information we request.


Amendments and contact details

You may access personal and health information that the Centre holds about you, upon reasonable request, subject to any exceptions in relevant legislation. If you believe that the information we hold about you is incorrect, please notify us in order that we may correct it.
