News and updates 2014

Congratulations to the Macquarie University North Harbour Rays for a fantastic season of rugby

About the principal partnership

In mid-June 2014, the North Harbour Rays announced Macquarie University as their principal partner for the first two seasons of the National Rugby Championship (NRC), Australian Rugby's exciting new third tier competition.

Known as the 'Macquarie University North Harbour Rays', the NRC franchise will prominently display the University's name on its playing gear and at its home ground at Brookvale Oval.

The partnership, which will include financial and in-kind support, is an excellent opportunity for the University to play an even greater role in its community. The club draws from the rugby talent of our local area; Manly, Warringah, Gordon and Northern Suburbs, and represents Sydney's North Shore in a national level competition.

It is envisaged that the new partnership will engage more Macquarie University students with all facets of MQU Sport and encourage increased participation in sport and at sporting events.

A Macquarie University North Harbour Rays supporters club will soon be established to provide members opportunities to secure discounted premium seating tickets for home games. As a member of the supporters club, they'll receive a polo shirt and cap to wear to the games to show their support. Opportunities to mingle with the players will also be organised via post-home game social events and functions.

MQU Sport wishes the Macquarie University North Harbour Rays all the best for the next two seasons and look forward to seeing the University's logo splashed proudly across the uniform and field!
