Mini Squad

Aim: Develop stroke technique across all strokes and basic squad training concepts. Swimmers will learn and refine the four competitive strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle), in addition to developing critical skills such as the streamline, underwater kicking, competitive turns and finishes, and dives. Mini Squad swimmers would be encouraged to attend Race Nights.

Equipment: Training fins (flippers), goggles, cap, drink bottle

  • $18.50/per lesson (Paid as fortnightly Direct debit of $37.00)

Emerging Squad

Aim: Squad developed for identified swimmers who are interested in pursuing competitive swimming. Swimmers will be asked to attend two sessions per week in order to help them develop greater proficiency in the four competitive strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle), in addition to critical race skills such as streamlines, dives, underwater kicking, turns and finishes.

Coached by qualified and experienced coaches, swimmers will be introduced to basic training skills and concepts such as cycles and the use of the pace clock.
With a focus on technique, skill, fun and competition, swimmers will be exposed to racing and would be expected to attend Race Nights and at coaches' discretion join the Macquarie University Swimming Club and compete at Swimming NSW meets.

Junior Squad

Aim: Squad developed to cater for young swimmers who are interested in competition and qualifying for Metropolitan and State Championships.
Junior swimmers will begin to learn and develop the skills important to FAST swimming (including all four competitive strokes, underwater skills, starts, turns and finishes), whilst developing a well-rounded approach to health, sport and competition.

Junior Squad is an opportunity for an athlete to make a decision to take the next step in the sport of swimming. This is the first level within the program for swimmers who have shown that they have the ability to qualify for meets and where a genuine commitment of between 3-5 sessions (recommendation to be made by coach) is required to achieve their swimming goals.

Equipment: Training fins (flippers), kick board, pull buoy, paddles, goggles, cap, drink bottle

All Junior Squad swimmers are expected to attend Race Nights, register as Macquarie University (MQU) Swimming Club members and compete at targeted meets.

Junior Squad Training times:

  • Monday 4:00pm - 5:15pm
  • Tuesday 4:00pm - 6:30pm
  • Wednesday 4:00pm - 5:15pm
  • Thursday 4:00pm - 6:30pm 
  • Friday 4:00pm - 5:15pm
