Age Development Squad

Aim: Squad developed to further the skills and abilities in all strokes and achieve best results at NSW State Age Championships.

Swimmers in this squad are generally between the ages of 12 & 16 who have achieved NSW State Age qualifying times (or close to and are selected at coaches discretion), with the intention of qualifying for Australian Age Championships.

Swimmers will be expected to swim between 5 & 8 sessions per week dependent on age and targeted events (recommendation to be made by coach), as well as scheduled dryland sessions.

Age Development swimmers are expected to attend Race Nights, register as Macquarie University (MQU) Swimming Club members and compete at all targeted meets, including Sydney Metropolitan and State Age Championships.

Equipment: Training fins (flippers), kick board, pull buoy, band, drag suit, sponge or resistance device, snorkel, paddles, goggles, cap, drink bottle

Please note all training gear should be kept in a gear bag and clearly labelled with your name. Gear may also be left in gear buckets at pool but no responsibility is taken for lost or misplaced gear.

Coach: Troy Sullivan

Troy is an ASCTA Silver Licence coach with over 10 years coaching experience (including four years as Head Coach).

Currently completing the third year of a Sports Studies degree, Troy has utilised this extensive knowledge and experience to develop numerous swimmers to National Championship level, both Open and Age, and State Championship level.

Troy is passionate and enthusiastic about swimming and aims to get the best out of every athlete to ensure they reach their full potential

National Squad

Aim: Squad for swimmers committed to competition at the National level (Open and Age) with the aim to making Australian representative teams.

Swimmers in this program will complete more individualised training programs determined by the Head Coach and are expected to be committed to this program and its goals. Swimmers will have access to a range of support services including Strength and Conditioning, Physio, Chiropractic, Nutrition, and Study and Careers advice.

Swimmers in this squad will be encouraged to maintain study or work while continuing training and would be expected to be ambassadors for the Macquarie University (MQU) Swimming Club and Program.

Equipment: Training fins (flippers - both short and long), kick board, pull buoy, band, drag suit, sponge or resistance device, snorkel, paddles (finger and hand), goggles, cap, drink bottle
