Leading sustainability in practice

Creating change within our institution requires senior management commitment and clarity of purpose. Without clear leadership from the top, social responsibility and sustainability will not be considered strategically important but what is also true is that with clear leadership from the top, examples of leadership will also emerge throughout the entire institution. We have this leadership through the strategic document Our University: A Framing of Futures, which clearly indicates a commitment to the principles of sustainability in all we do.

Leadership and Governance examines and encourages not only ambitious strategic intent but also focuses on building capacity through human capital and development. Building social and environmental sustainability into established processes and management systems will ensure they remain strategically important issues, embedded into everyday institutional practices for long-term benefit.
