Study exploring 'The Role of Wellbeing on Diagnostic Performance'
The Department of Psychology is conducting an ANZCA funded research project to examine the role of wellbeing on diagnostic performance in anaesthetists. The study has been approved by the HREC (Reference # 5201500087) of Macquarie University.
What Will I be Required to Do?
You will complete a 15 minute anaesthesia simulation, pre/post simulation surveys, and a post simulation debriefing. To learn more about the simulation activity you will participate in, watch this short video presentation.
Who is Leading this Study?
The principle investigators for this study are Dr. Monique Crane, Dr. Suyin Tan and Prof. Kirsty Forrest.
- Dr. Monique Crane is a Psychologist and lecturer in Organisational Psychology from the Department of Psychology at Macquarie University.
- Prof. Kirsty Forrest is Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Macquarie University.
- Dr. Suyin Tan is the Director of Anaesthesia & Pain Management at Nepean Hospital.
Who is Eligible to Enroll in the Study?
Currently practicing anaesthesia trainees or fellows can participate in this study.
The study will require 1 hour of your time.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Credit
This activity is equivalent to 2 hours of ANZCA CPD credit under Knowledge and Skills category activities that fit the description ‘short course, workshops, problem-based learning discussions and small group discussions’ You will be given a Certificate of Participation.
The study is conducted in the simulation laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences at Macquarie University, ground floor Building F10A (see map with directions).
Below ground parking is available in the Basement of the Macquarie University Hospital, adjacent to Building F10A. Present your parking ticket to the simulation coordinator for validation and payment.
