As the largest department in the Faculty of Business and Economics, we are home to a group of experts who publish world-class research and undertake high-level scholarship activities, both locally and internationally. Our expertise ranges from financial and management reporting, risks, audit, corporate governance, ethics and information systems and development.

Alongside our academic staff and researchers, our students form a vibrant community of critical thinkers and problem solvers. We are proud to have students from over 70 different countries, contributing to our diverse approach to learning and teaching.

Our high-standard and quality-driven program commits to the advancement of accounting. With the option of a double major or degree in a combination of accounting with finance, marketing, management, human resources or law, we stay aligned with the ever-changing marketplace. Our programs are strongly supported by professional accounting bodies, firms and businesses both locally and internationally.

Engagement with renowned international scholars, government organisations, industry bodies, and business in the private and not-for-profit sectors, all ensure we are at the forefront of emerging accounting knowledge.

Throughout our programs, students are required to observe facts objectively, make logical decisions and generate optimal solutions to problems that they might face. Our programs engage students through innovative learning and teaching tools, industry and employer presentations, interaction with other students and scholarship activities. Our programs have been highly successful and have contributed to outstanding records of excellent achievements in professional accounting bodies examinations. We enjoys a strong reputation amongst the business and professional communities.

Our students are prepared for an increase in the use of technology in the industry. We unify traditional learning practices with online learning and a practical hands-on experience. Through case studies, our students get a hands-on experience in Xero, MYOB and Excel, allowing them to become effectively career-ready. We provides out-reach activities with both businesses and the profession.

Our degrees are recognised as an approved tertiary institution for membership for the following organisations: CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
