Welcome to the Bachelor of Creative Arts

The Bachelor of Creative Arts (BCA or BCA International) is a multidisciplinary arts management degree that is designed for those seeking employment in the arts and associated organisations or public services, especially those who plan a career involving arts administration.

The program addresses the needs of artists, arts managers and entrepreneurs in the following fields: theatre, film, publishing, galleries, museums and the music industry. Graduates have gained employment in a variety of private and public arts related businesses, funding organisations, regional arts centres and educational institutions. Students complete a coherent study in one of the following artistic fields: drama, dance, performance, music or creative writing. The multidisciplinary approach draws from established disciplines throughout Macquarie University, such as cultural studies, music, anthropology, sociology, education (early childhood, primary, secondary) and philosophy, and also areas of professional studies such as law, management, economics, marketing and business administration.

The degree program is firmly linked to the arts industry; students access the most up to date information available and have the opportunity to meet/network with some of Australia's most successful arts managers and entrepreneurs. BCA and BCA International students also complete a work placement either in Sydney or overseas in their final year.
